UK companies are behaving recklessly when it comes to
email, and are risking serious disruption to their businesses, is the stern warning from
messaging expert Robert Zysblat, managing director of 5GM. "In the rush of excitement
to exploit email, companies even large ones are conducting business over the
Internet without following even the most basic validation and security procedures,"
said Zysblat. "Irresponsible and dangerous practices have become the norm
people are placing and accepting vital business documents like purchase orders with no
proof of integrity, no security and no proof of delivery. Apart from obvious serious
business risk, companies and their directors are quite possibly defaulting on their legal
obligations and responsibilities."
According to Zysblat, businesses need a corporate strength mail security solution to
address these problem areas. It needs to offer integrity so you know the message
hasnt been tampered with; non-repudiation proof of delivery; authenticity
so you know for certain who sent the message; and security so you can be
confident no-one else has seen sensitive information.
