Unconfirmed reports are circulating that Microsoft has made a proposal to IBM to port
Windows 2000 to run on the IBM Power-4 PowerPC processor. This 64-bit chip should be
released in the AS/400 late next year. Users can currently run NT on an Intel chip-based
PC server card that sits in the AS/400; this card shares some resources with OS/400. If
the Microsoft port takes place, it would be the first time users could actually run
Windows 2000 as the machines operating system.
